[Sponsored Report] Amorepacific highlights modern art
2018-08-19
Amorepacific will hold the outdoor public art project “apmap 2018 Jeju” until Oct. 14 at the Jeju Osulloc Tea Museum. The Amorepacific museum of art project (apmap) 2018 Jeju-volcanic island exhibition, which is held by the Amorepacific Museum of Art, reinterprets the topography of the volcanic island of Jeju and the power of nature into modern art. Apmap 2018 Jeju-volcanic island is Amorepacific Museum of Art’s nature-themed modern art project. Visitors can enjoy a variety of contemporary artworks that reinterpret the unique topography and nature of Jeju Island such as Lee Yong-ju’s “Foldable House,” inspired by Jusangjeolli cliff, ADHD’s “Ply,” inspired by the flow of lava, and Buhm Hong’s “Veiled Grains and Layers,” inspired by the forests of Saryeoni-Supgil and Jeju Gotjawal. Young artists and architects participating in the exhibition explored places where the nature of Jeju stood out and worked on art projects based on the inspiration they gained from the field. Visitors will appreciate Jeju’s unique landscape as described in the artists’ figurative language and find moments of rest and contemplation through art.

Jeju Osulloc Tea Museum, where this exhibition is on display, is a cultural space that 1.8 million people visit per year. The exhibition also lets visitors understand Jeju Island’s value in a new way and presents a special experience of art in daily life. Apmap started in 2013 to revitalize public art and modern art by discovering talented rising artists and supporting their creation of experimental art. The exhibition is divided into two parts. Each part is open for four years, and the museum chooses a new topic and artist every year. Apmap part I was on display from 2013 to 2016 at different places related to Amorepacific. Apmap part II displayed in 2017 and will be open until 2020. This project is designed to highlight the value of Jeju and promote contemporary art that reflect local characteristics. The second exhibition of apmap part II, “apmap 2018 Jeju-volcanic island,” can be enjoyed free of charge by anyone who visits the Jeju Osulloc Tea Museum. More information about the event and exhibition can be found on its homepage, apmap.amorepacific.com.
