Displays slide and fold at trade shows in Europe and the U.S.

Slidable displays and foldable screens took center stage at Samsung Display’s booth at Display Week 2022, in San Jose, California.
Display Week 2022, which returned as an in-person event after three-year hiatus, is an international conference for display products hosted by the Society for Information Display. It runs from May 10 to 12.
At its booth, Samsung Display exhibited prototypes of its Flex G and the Flex S foldable displays. The Flex G folds twice, rather than the single folds of current models, while the Flex S folds both inward and outward, Samsung Display explained.
The company also exhibited a 6.7-inch slidable display product that expands upward, not sideways like existing sliding screen, as well as a foldable organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display for gaming.
LG Display exhibited a two-way foldable OLED that folds both inward and outward, and a 97-inch OLED panel, which is currently the biggest OLED display in the world, for the first time at the Display Week event.
LG Display’s 17-inch Foldable OLED panel for laptops, also exhibited, is also the biggest of its kind, according to the company.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics also attended the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2022 in Barcelona, Europe's biggest commercial display exhibition, which started Tuesday at Fira de Barcelona, Gran Via. The event will run for four days through Friday with more than 800 exhibitors.
Samsung exhibited a new light-emitting diode (LED) display at the event on Tuesday, while LG Electronics exhibited its commercial digital screen offerings featuring transparent OLED screens and microscopic LED signage.
In its 1,728 square-meter (18,600 square-foot) exhibition space, Samsung Electronics introduced its The Wall LED display, with a 0.63-millimeter pixel pitch, 43 percent smaller than the previous model, which translates into higher resolution.
Samsung began early sales of its The Wall display in Europe with the start of the ISE 2022 and plans to formally start marketing the product in the global market in the third quarter of this year.
LG Electronics exhibited its commercial display offerings, including a transparent OLED display and LG Magnit, a giant 136-inch 4K microscopic LED screen.
Both Samsung and LG are offering a virtual version of their booths online.
